Our Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd, was elected last year. However, a minister of something or other has been hiding a report on Rudd's plan to filter the internet on the ISP end, meaning 90% of internet - anything obscene, pornographic, alternative, or violent whatsover- will be filtered and blocked. The fact that it is on the ISP end means the internet will be 50% slower, 1.5mbs will be only 750kps. The only other countries with this filter are China and Cuba- fabulous examples of Democratic governments. This may mean that I may be unable to access Pandora, as it is about X2, a game which involves violence, and drug themes (spaceweed anyone?) Strangely enough, one will be able to play GTA4 or CoD5 online, just at a slower, laggier rate. P2P and wireless networks will also have this filter, even iTunes!

This is absolute fucking shit, and if it goes ahead, hopefully Pandora will be spared. But if it is filtered, thanks for the great times, but I will find a way around this filter, so don't ssay goodbye yet, or forever. BTW: Merry Christmas and happy surfing! (coz i won't be able too)

Well, when I first heard about the new law in Australia, I was worried too. Ok, there are a lot of strange things on the internet, and some content is very dubious. But I don't think blocking the internet is not the right way to deal with this. Let's take violence: there's so much violence shown on TV! I've seen more violence on TV than on internet or games! There is a similar discussion going on here in Germany, but it's about games, especially ego shooter.

Anyway, I don't think Pandora site is in danger to be blocked. The only violence we're talking about is shooting down space ships and selling poor pilots into slavery :D ! I don't think this glorifies violence, does it?

no, but i hope it isn't. like many people said, it should be up to the parents to buy their own filter, and not to blame violent shows for messing up their kids, when the parents let their kids watch them! And sites like the Australain Defence Force, and other military sites, they won't be banned! Rudd is working to closely with China, he speaks Mandarin! I think he's trying to turn us communist!

I thing those guys turn more stupid than ever! You can't stop crime by making enemies :-P If someone would cut down MY internet he can be sure that I'll pray - for his hell

concerning the "we don't like violent games" thing; I don't understand why the government punishes millions of people only because there are 5 that are idiots. It just makes me angry that those fools can't control themselves enough!
[hm.. I think I'd better stop - am loosing control myself :whistling:]
