Okay, say you are flying up the gate of a really important sector (Depths of Silence, Clouds of Thunder if its made), and as soon as you get close to it (10-15km), a M6 of that race would fly up, and scan you. If you carry any illegal goods, or your rank with that race is below a certain point (say something like below a Argon Neutral Trader at 50%), you will be fired upon. If your rank is above the 50% mark, you're free to fly through the gate to the other system.

Does it kind of make sense now?

What I mean by ranks is your Notoriety with that race.

But that's right, I can play without Jumpdrive, during two years I played the 1.2 version, without Universal Traders and all that stuff, but I must say, that's really more simple with those software (and the Jumpdrive), especially when you have to deal with 90 factories

Well, if you disable the Jumpdrive, it's gonna be really harder than it was!

Swahili : that's not a bad idea, but with that, how are we gonna increasing our rank with races if we can't go in their sectors?

@ rhonkar: It's not with every one of their sectors, just the really important ones (Depths of Silence for the Boron, the sector I proposed, Clouds of Thunder for the Argon, ect.). So only those sectors that according to the original X2 storyline have higher-up security and are extremely important to that race will be guarded by M6s and other ships.
You can fly through other regular sectors (Argon Prime, Family Tk'r, Seizewell, ect.) without having to worried about being attacked because if your good rank isn't good enough!

Ok i've just understand. Yeah that's a really good idea.

And to precise things, when I say "it's gonna be harder", I'm appreciating that, in X2 Vanilla, it's really too simple, I can handle with a M4 all the ships of a Pirate Base. The only real threat was the Khaaks!

So hopefully it will be harder
